Writer Jordan Colinoff uses the Asian X Games and a Chinese street skater named Li Zhixin to make the case that skateboarding is growing in China for a story on GlobalPost.com.

"The publicity generated by the X Games and the potential market for sponsor companies are leading to a huge push to attract young Chinese to skateboarding. In addition to the big event in Shanghai, the X Games also goes on an eight-stop road show throughout China. . . Surprisingly, the sport, seeped in a rebel history, has found little resistance from the authoritarian Chinese government. In 2005, officials even allowed American skateboarder Danny Way to make history by becoming the first person to jump over the Great Wall on his board. Perhaps the government sees the potential market value of the sport, or maybe it’s just getting to be too strong a sub-culture to fight."

We’re guessing it’s more the former. If The Party can handle Tiananmen Square we’re pretty sure they stop skateboarding if they wanted to, but then if they’re going to make the world’s skateboards and clothing, they might as well let their people roll. -Boardistan

was auch immer gerüchte mässig und so lauft, hab ich noch gar nichts davon gehört. und dann Bamm stiess ich auf diese News, Almost Fahrer Greg Lutzka ist jetzt von langzeit Sponsor Globe abgestiegen und fährt... für K-Swiss! die Marke mit dem 40 jahre Hintergrund in der Tennis industrie und keinen Verkauf mehr in der Schweiz mehr hat (wegen namens verletzung und so crap) steigt also somit in die skate szene ein und denkt sich dabei wohl wenns nike und adidas so machen, machen wirs auch.. mit Lutzka haben sie sich wohl einen grossen Fish geangelt und geld spielt sicher auch ne rolle! naja... haltet davon was ihr wollt, es könnte leider schon sein das der schuh einschlagen könnte.. material und so hald.. hm?

Nitro die erfinder.. sie haben nicht nur das Brett mit dieser komischen negative side kante zum jibben welches aber sogleich noch pop hat sondern auf nächste saison auch neu! FX- SMARTBASE Technology bei der, man staune...! das Brett nie mehr gewachsen werden muss! Eero und Co fahren diese schon. 2009

okay.. aso Lakai Fully Flared.. der eigentlich beste skate video eh und je.. zwar ein bisschen lang mit einer halb stund filmlänge.. egal. WEIL!!!! der video der absolute hammer burner ist was die tricks anbelangt.. game mässig schon fast! und jez kommz. haltet euch fest! es ist eine 3 DVD kollektion heraus gekommen, the FINAL FLARE, mit dem DVD dem making of oder so was ähnlichem.. und!!! den FILM auf BLU-RAY! aso für alle die schon mal was von BLU-RAY gesehen haben..! ohja.. ein skate video auf BLU-RAY! ich glaub ich träume.. aso.. haut rein. yaah! UP IN THE SKY

Letztes Jahr war UP IN THE SKY von Factor Films im Onboard und ich hab den mal so ohne erwartungen oder so geschaut. und fand ihn dann der Hammer! der film völlig in vergessung geratten bin ich heute über einen Trailer von Eiki Helgason gestolpert! ja der eiki war da auch schon dabei.. sowie der torstein und weitere! jedemfalls hab ich dann gesucht und gefunden! der ganze movie.. von letzt jahr. aber so mit dem sound ist der echt klasse..(ps. auf der seite ist auch der Special blend, first chair last call.. für alle bei denen der download nicht funktioniert hat) fly high Alex
